This was a fairly easy tune to transcribe, but is a gorgeous tune anyhow... I'm assuming it's one of the more recent of Brian Finnegan's tunes, assuming he is who wrote it.

There's a couple recordings and videos of it going around... I really, really love the change to a slip jig in the second part, though it can be confusing sometimes.

Part B a Slip Jig?!?

Joseph, are you sure about that? Though you certainly have much more experience in Irish music than I do, listening to Brian Finnegan and William Coulter's recording of this tune over at their website, http://www.finnegancoulter.com/, the B part sounds just like any other double jig to me. Perhaps Ed Boyd's chord changes over at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6EMnSmbumM made you think otherwise?

Anyhow, I would agree with you, this is certainly a lovely tune.

The way William's changing chords in the second part seems to make it sound like a jig, and it thus confused me forever, but if you count for three beats instead of two on the B part, you'll find it to be in 9 instead.

William Coulter is on thesession, though, so perhaps he'll see this and correct me if I'm wrong...

Indeed, it's a beautiful tune, that I'm now happily playing over and over and over and....

For what its worth I have no doubt that it is in 6/8 in the first part and 9/8 in the second part. I don't think Coulter's chords make it sound like it is in 6/8. If you listen to the tune then the emphasis is played across the 9 notes rather than the 6.

Also the second tune in the set is also a slip jig.
