Carlingford
This is a song .." so I'll sing fare thee well to Carlingford and fare thee well Greenore, I'l think of you both day and night 'till I return once more."... and so fourth
Not a bad wee ditty. Don't know where i got it (I didn't learn it while living in Dundalk very close to the two aforementioned villages).
For some reason I can "hear" the Clancy's sing it - in my head.

Perfect!
The tune is good, but the song is wonderful! I'm definately going to present the song for my band!

Recorded by...
The Dubliners definitely recorded this and I am almost certain that it was regularly played and sung by Ardee man Dermot O'Brien.

Return to carlingford
Written by Tommy Makem - there's a lovely version of him singing it - and reciting Yeats as naturally as everyday speech - on You Tube.
