Legend has it that a musician from Hunter's Moon Morris was playing this tune at a practise session, having arrived early, when two dancers came in and made up a dance to it.
As the date was September the fourth, that's the name they gave to the dance. I think the tune may have another name, but I can't find out what it is.
Its a lovely tune with a haunting quality to it, and when you play it for dancers it's quite hypnotic.

September The Fourth
Shouldn't the time be 2/4, and renamed as a polka? Alternatively, double the lengths of all the notes and let it remain as a reel.
