The Argosy
Just a tune I had knocking around in my head, retrospectively named in honour of the Argosy Bar in Glasgow, a great place to watch the match with your best friend Mr Pint.

Hey, stellar, Conán! A little more minor and darker than I expected for a bunch of rabblerousers, but I especially like the B part.

Yep, this is a fun tune all around, tho a bit of a bow flinger for us fiddlers. Lots of opportunities for variations, and nice segues from one mode to the next.

Hey Man!
I like the B part a lot. If you don't mind I'll do a little something with it. I feel some good strong bow attacks coming on. Thanks

Right away I started playing the B part with a variation using the high g:
|(3eee ge Aece| etc.
I did something similar to the 2nd measure of the A part, playing |FADA FAdA| for variety.

Cheers
Thanks for the encouraging comments. Please feel free to play this with any variations you want.

Ah, if someone's playing a tune enough to come up wih variations, that's the best compliment you can get!

The Argosy
Hey Conan I love your tune. I've added it to my repertoire, and I think it sounds nice played after Liz Carroll's "That's Right Too". I also liked Will's variations. I added a couple of variations of my own to bars 3 and 4 of the B-part. I love the way the end of the B-part leads back to the beginning of the tune. If you transcribe it in E dorian you don't need to keep writing in C#s.

Are there any more tunes of yours on the database?

I also sometimes find myself playing |~g3a fdBA|DEFA FEE2| or similar for the last 2 bars of the A-part.

Hmm, there's heaps of room for variation in this tune - |e3d B3A|FADA... sounds nice as a laid-back version of the first couple of bars.

Jeez I've just read these comments - I'm a bit out of touch! Thanks Mark!!
