March

Not a waltz. Done nicely with a bit of swing I might add. I got this from The Chieftain's "Water From The Well" and I couldn't find any sheet music/abc for this on the net, so I took matters into my own hands and did what I could. One online source noted this tune as 9/8, but I couldn't get it to work in 9/8 time myself, maybe somebody more experienced knows what's really going on. o.O And perhaps it is in G major anyway, but I thought D mix...

Here's my final copy of my ABC for this tune:

Triplet

I guess in bar 2 you could put A2 A2 (3GAB instead of A2 A2 AB. =/

Chieftain's Probable Source for this Tune....

I've never heard this tune "live" in a session...although it's a fine one. With their long history of plundering Bunting's collections for good, but forgotten, material, I expect this is where they got the tune (but that's speculation). It can be found, almost note-for-note as you transcribed it in the latest and largest of his three collections, "A Collection of the Ancient Music of Ireland", Dublin 1840 as tune 128, p97. No information is given regarding the source of the tune.

Nice!

Very cool information Finian Circle. And I've never heard it played in session either, until I played it in one myself. ;)
