"A Dram At The Wake"
We recieved news yesterday of yet another acquaintance losing the battle against cancer, riddled with it. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, and we've only been at the side of someone who suffered a long struggle while cancer took over their body and shut it down. Like that, and many, this one is also very likely attached to history. We are still not shy in trying to get those surviving to consider putting away those things that are known to contribute to a result like this ~ smoking, alcohol, diet... Yes, it is selfish, as it is damned hard losing loved ones this way. As said, I wouldn't even want to lose proverbial enemies this way. We even got news there, the same, a 'nemesis' in some peoples minds is also losing the battle. It made my heart sink, as it is unlikely we will ever resolve the differences that put us on opposite sides of an issue...
So, a dram and a nod of respect for all those absent friends and the unresolved, realizing that some thing never can be, but a drink to those, in memory, and out comes this little polka amongst other tunes being played in a pensive mood. And, to give it the fuller name that came out ~ "A Dram at the Wake and then we Dance"... Those for which this bad news came would appreciate that, as would I when my time comes...
