I'd been playing through a lot of marches up to 'Rememberance Sunday', then the above contribution introduced me to one I didn't know, this one, and I chased up some listening, all pipe bands, and enjoyed following them and giving this a go. I'll add a couple of other transcripts for comparison, to counteract any of the few slides I made in other direcitons... On Scottish marches my main influence is Cape Breton Island and the Maritimes.

Composed by Pipe Major Donald Macleod, born in 1916 at Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in the Scottish Hebrides. Macleod learned piping from his father and from a number of tutors, including the famous Pipe Major John MacDonald of Inverness. In 1937 he became a piper for the Seaforth Highlanders and attained the level of Pipe Major in only four years. During World War II Macleod served in France with the 51st Highland Division and was taken prisoner by the Germans at St. Valery. He managed to escape and returned to his unit in time to pipe his battalion across the Rhine during an assault crossing—despite having been forbiden to do so by his commanding officer. After the war Macleod continued to win piping competition after competition, until he retired from the army in 1963. After that he played exhibitions and wrote pipe tutors and his own collection, Ceol Mor.

malcolmbpiper ~ (This?) Ceolachan's march setting is the closest but is missing some things. On the technical side are the grips and taorluaths played on some of the quarter notes. These movements have a G in them. Also there are variations to the 2nd and 4th parts. Here is a more faithful setting that is friendly to other instruments. To be even more faithful one could play the terminating A2 of each part as A/A/A...

The 'grip' separates 2 identical notes, for example, as given above above, c2 = c*c = c{G/d/G/}c, etc.
A 'grip' can also be executed moving between different pitches, for example from A to c or B to c...
The 'taorluath' is a version of a 'grip' form with addition of a gracenoted note preceeding the Taorluath (except high a, of course) and an e gracenote on the final note.

Thanks for posting a nice clean version of this ceolachan.
I think you've got the grip described pretty well.The gracenote on the note preceding a taorluath is more a stylistic choice than a necessity and the e gracenote following the grip completes the taorluath and the movement is played as a smooth,rippling,whole."Darid" is the canntaireachd for the movement.Accent on second syllable,scottich "r".
