"La Marsaillaise" ~ from the playing of Con Cassidy
I'm having trouble again with this website not letting me add comment, and I can't see anything in what I'm adding that could be mistaken for HTML or 'script'? Weird!
This is the 3rd time in the last month this problem has happened. I'll have to see if there is anything that might be being blocked because some filter thinks it's script. The last two times it was ABC notation...
I'll be back!

"La Marsaillaise" ~ from the playing of Con Cassidy ~ comment in parts

I've notated this in 4/4 because it allows me to avoid things like /4, 32nd notes, or {~} fudges. The feel and drive of this melody is duple, so 2/4 would show that more clearly. However, reels are in the same bag, notated as 4/4 nowadays while being strongly duple in nature. That said, reel dance steps fit the 4/4 mold. The 'march' in this, while dance stepping it might be more akin to the reel or barndance, 3 steps to the measure = | 1 2 3 * |, is decidedly duple, 2 steps to the measure, | 1 * 2 * |. The tune could be notated so:

It's the ABC again
I'll break it up into parts, 4 to a bar instead of the intended 2 of 2/4:
M: 2/4
L: 1/8
R: march
K: Dmaj
A/B/4c/4 |\
d d/d/ c d/d/ | e c/c/ B A | a2 a/b/ a/f/ | d g f/e/ d/c/ | ~
But my preference, for clarity and less of the black stuff, is 4/4...
| 1 2 3 * | or * | 1 2 3
* ~ the 4th count, which can be just a pause or a 'hop', meaning a simple heel lift and drop or skip...
