Not too sure of the name of this tune. I got it of this youtube where Willie Larkin says he got it from Johnny O'Leary. It's the last tune in the set.....

It is verys similar (with the A & B parts reversed) to "Jack the Bridge" played by Patrick Street on their "LIve from Partrick Street" CD

Johnny O'Leary's Polka
My Apple speakers are playing at present up so I can't listen to the clip but, looking at the dots, this is a very catchy little tune.

"Dan O'Connell's Favourite" ~ as Johnny O'Leary chose to call it
Dear Dan, it is good to have a tune with his name on it, he loved Sliabh Luachra, its music, its sets so, and had an appreciation and a friendship with Johnny O'Leary. Dan loved to dance, for as long as he was able, and his pub in Knocknagree was a locally appreciated gathering place for music and dance. Much later it became a magnet for the mayhem that grew out of the 80s. Numbers grew from a set or two at most to a packed house with barely enough room to move but the necessity to avoid the more boisterous and space consuming visitors from the cities ~ Cork, Galway, Dublin, London, Manchester, New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Ontario, Paris, Barcelona, etc...
Last I heard Dan O'Connell's pub was up for sale, a few months back? He was a crazy dancer. It is easy enough to make room for one such dancer and heart, but when such numbers got beyond reason, it was too much... It go so Johnny would prefer a quiet game of cards away from it all than risk being caught up in the mayhem, requests to play faster and for a growing number of sets he was unfamiliar with ~ real, fantasic, choreographic ~ and the rude and aggressive in-your-face floor wallopers...
I feel lucky to have known both men, for however short a time, from the time of a single set to the packed house... May there be a place beyond this fragile realm where we can sit and chat and share this music and dance again...
