"By the Fireside"

This is my first submittal of an original. I wrote this as my parents were moving out of the house where I had spent most of my childhood. The title pertains to my collected memories including warming our feet by the fireplace and popping popcorn over the open fire. Any feedback would be welcome.

"By the Fireside"

I play this with a little bit of swing, almost like a waltz, though it could easily be straightened out to a more typical jig.

I like it, but I think "FAA AFA" in the beginning phrase instead of "FGA AFA" sounds better, in my opinion. Great tune though, I say.

Er, sorry, that is without the swing you have in there, that is.

Thanks. Actually, I was thinking something like 'FAF AFA' as a variant for the 5th bar of the tune. Something similar in the turn might work, as well.

MIDI

Sorry, I just listened to the midi for the first time- If that's what you where listening to I can see why you suggested 'FAA AFA', the tempo is a little quicker than I usually play it, so the repeated notes would make the phrasing a little less menacing. That tempo makes the swung phrases a bit of a hitch! I think that's up around 240-260bpm, I usually play it down around 220bpm. Thanks for the phrase suggestion.
