Yes, e minor and definitely a relative... I missed it. Thanks for the link Hiro. I believe the old Roche collection had a greater influence than some folks give it credit for. I saw a number of the old individual volumes, I, II & III, in the possession of some very influential musicians, including members of ceili bands...

Don't forget to change the key, it ain't resolving on G and isn't Major... ;-)

"The Humours of Castlelyons" ~ G Major it is... :-/

Still semi-conscious... Apologies... Now to shake out the cobwebs and reconsider the rest... :-P

Roche I, page 41, tune #92 ~ "Roland's Return!" ~ Corrections

B-parts, next to the last bar, a mistake of one note raised an octave in the ABCs ~

K: Dmin ~ | G2 A BAG | AFD D2 |]

K: Emin ~ | A2 B cBA | BGE E2 |]

Admitting I'm in a mood that is decidedly minor, the tune and transcriptions here still ring as minor to my ears. The transcript I've given resolves for me on d, and if I push it to F it feels incomplete, unresolved. It does tend to float between modes, this I realize. The Roche settings finish final bars of both parts on D, and for me the F (or G in the transposition) doesn't give the melody a satisfactory resolution... I did consider this when I kept finding others had been listing this tune as F Major.

It has been a pretty crazy week as I experiment with tendonitis and trying to get past my avoidance of considering the other option, the opinion of a doctor... Yes, I'm stubborn. Probably more that than shy. Are you surprised? Hey, at least twice in my life a doctor came close to killing me, once with an overdose, so maybe I have reasons for being reticent... So, maybe it is 'shy' rather than 'stubborn'? It may have a lot to do with why I don't like chemical solutions... Drugs should be a last resort, don't you think? ;-)
