Everybody Knows That One!
The alternate titles for this tune are "The Hibernator" and "O'Lydian's Jig". The advantage of referring the tune by its primary name is, that if you play it at a session, (and someone asks you the name of it), you will be able to give them a cryptic reply!
I have submitted it as being in E-minor, though strictly speaking it is in the Æolian mode (or natural minor). My abc submission includes suitable guitar chords.

3) It is not modified in any way. ~ modification is the nature of tradition, don't yuh know? But if this isn't intended for the 'tradition', I'll leave it alone... There are plenty of other things to choose from... I'm not fond of the dogma some folks hold as scripture that there is only one way to play a tune... Back to the fun of making music and letting it have some of its own way, outside of any straight jacket...

Ceol - you misunderstand me - modify it or play it whatever way you like (if you still want to, that is!).
The issue that I had was your "posting" of a "variant" in the comments section. I think that facility ought to be reserved for tunes that are truly traditional.
Only one way to play a tune? Not me!
I often write out a tune for friends who prefer to play from music Then when we all play the tune together (with them looking at the music, and me not) they complain afterwards that I wasn't playing what I had wrtitten down!
