Feels like some of the c's might want/need to be played sharp or maybe that's just my ears.

Quite a lot of them could be played sharp - it wouldn't sound at all bad with all of them sharp, in fact. But it may not be what Joe Liddy intended. Here's a selectively (although perhaps excessively) sharpened version:
