The Boys of Coomanore

I came across this tune in Dervish and Claire Mann's albums and found the sheet music at JC's ABC tune finder.
Really great jig. The first half of the tune sounds quite similar to that of "the Rolling Wave."
Enjoy!

Boys of Coomanore

Great, rolling jig! I like Dervish's setting, which is a little different--lots of tweaked notes that lead the melody from one bar to the next so you never want it to stop. Something along the lines of:

The Boys of Coomanore

I've been thinking this jig sounds like a composite of these two tunes:

The Rolling Waves: http://thesession.org/tunes/display.php/88 (1st part)
The Hag with the Money: http://thesession.org/tunes/display.php/351 (2nd part)

You will also find some resemblance between this tune and Allistrum's March: http://thesession.org/tunes/display.php/2136

Also on Sligo flute player and singer Colm O'Donnell's solo recording "Farewell to Evening Dances." The first of Paddy Cronin's jigs.
