The Carlisle Reel
I got this from The Boat Band's album "A Trip To The Lakes", my favourite trad listening of late. The tunes are ones collected in the English Lake District between Victorian times and now. Unfortunately the notes give little or no info on them, though they are very good about local players of old. Generally the tunes seem to me very ITM-compatible, whatever their origins. This one is the kind of Northern England / Borders 2/4 that goes a bit slower than a Kerry polka and a bit faster than a Southern English one.
For those who don't live in this part of the world, Carlisle is the capital of Cumbria, England's most north-western county, and is close to the Scottish border.
