Not quite straight out of O'Neil's, this is how I've come to play it. I make it third in a set after The Rose in the Garden and The Morning Star Reel. Despite the name co-incidence, it is NOT an alternate form of The Gravel Walk.

There are a lot of common things to other G major (pipe) reels, like Gibert Clancy's - Nice tune anyway!

this has bugged me for ages, its the tune the Dubliners play before the Salamanca reel,
although they play it differently to the version here

B@gg@r......

Just spent the best part of an hour transcribing this from Steph Geremia's CD where it's called "Snow Covered Hills". I've put the alternative title in so that it's linked to the recording.
Here's my transcription, anyway :

G2 dG BGdG | G2 dB cAFA | G2 dG Bcde | fdcB cAFA |
G2 GA BGBd | GBdB cA FA | GABc dAeg |1 fdcA AGFA :|2 fdcA GABc |
dg g2 bgag | dg g2 decA | dg g2 bgag | fdcA G3 B |
dg g2 b2 ag | dg g2 defg | a2 ge fdeg |1 fdcA GABc :|2 fdcA G4 |

Steph's playing of this is as good an example of Irish flute playing as I've ever heard. Just beautiful music.

Don't know how to add a reference to another recording, as this is my first submission (is this possible?), but a fine rendering of this tune appears on "The Mountain Groves" by Emmett Gill, second item on the first track, published by NPU and subtitled "The Ace and Deuce of Piping Volume 2". A lot of other good performance on this CD as well!

Donncha - to do what you want to do, enter the details of the recording yourself (in the menu list on the right hand side, click "Recordings" then "add a new recording") as the album you refer to isn't listed here already. The this tune will automatically link to the new recording entry.

I'll add a bit to Donncha's comment: Snow on the Hills is one of the tunes that Tommy Reck recorded, it's usually added to the Peter O Loughlin tape but I think it's one of a few tunes that was actually taken from radio broadcasts. Tommy Keane also recorded it.
