The Swiss Reel
It's actually called "The Swiss Reel" not "The Swiss" because that would spoil the play on words wouldn't it?
A tune from Northumberland, I can't remember the composer, it could possibly be one of Aly Bain's.
Nice and simple but sounds lovely!

You could play a nice Swiss Roll on the long B in the 1st bar of the B-part.
"one of Aly Bain's?....from Northumberland??? don't think so somehow!"
Shetland tunes have been popular in Northumberland for a long time - and Aly Bain's based in Edinburgh now (isn't he?), so just a short hop over the border. This tune could certainly have a bit of Shetland influence in it. Although, I don't know any of Aly Bain's compositions, so I can't say whether it's one of his,

Hay guise,
the tune is called Swiss Reel because that title is a PLAY ON WORDS of Swiss Roll. That does not in any way mean it is Swiss.
The history, Hellmasterdeadman, is pretty brief because it was composed in the last twenty years.
If I see Kate Bramely again, I'll ask her about it, that's who I learnt it off.

Swiss Roll
Hey DJF,
Thanks for your answer! I'll be interested if you find once more about it!
So it's not as old as I hope! I'm looking for old Swiss celtic inspired traditionnal music, as Celts used to live in Switzerland... that's why i'm asking!
Swiss Cheers! ^^
