North/Narrow West Street
The first of 2 unusual hornpipes from Gary Walsh’s CD “Uncovered” . I’ll post the 2nd tomorrow. I’ve transcribed it as a straight hornpipe, but it’s played with a fair bit of “swing” /“lilt” / “bounce” – whatever you want to call it, hard to explain – you need to hear the recording. Sleeve notes have some confusion about the title, too, calling it “Narrow West Street” on the back cover, and “North West Street” on the inside insert. “North” seems more logical to me. Thanks to Dow for checking this, and also advice on correcting me on the mode of the 2nd one.
