The Silver Star

I have no idea if this tune is related to the Jean Carignan recording that came up .

This isnt related to the Star Hornpipe already here at the session. Although it goes by the same name... from fiddlers companion:

STAR HORNPIPE, THE [4]. AKA and see "Silver Star Hornpipe," "The Twilight Star." American, Hornpipe. USA; Michegan, southwestern Pa. G Major. Standard. AB. The second part of the tune is a common international strain. Source for notated version: Irvin Yaugher (fiddler from Fayette County, Pa., 1944; learned from fiddler John O. Miller, a native of Michegan, in the 1880's) [Bayard]. Bayard (Dance to the Fiddle), 1981; No. 109, pgs. 62-63.

My ABCs are my take on the Yaugher version and Im currently working on this tune for fiddle.

Come on!

Come on you bastards! Just because its not onthe popular "super duper macallstars" album, doesnt mean its not a great tune.(for a hornpipe.) Id love to hear a good Donegal fiddler get their hands on this... (if they havent already...) The cs and c#s are so melancholy....
