This tune can be played a number of different ways. It sounds quite sinister when it's played at a flowing, steady speed. It also makes a great, driving session tune when it's played hell for leather. Try playing it both ways, and decide for yourself which is more fun.

This tune sounds really similar to the Shetland tune "Da Full-Rigged Ship." Maybe it's an Irish adaptaion of the tune.

It's also the songs 'The Louse House in Kilkenny' and 'The Wife of the Bould Tenant Farmer'.
The version in O'Neill's, beginning DGG etc is closer to the song 'The Sea Around Us'.
