Sunset On The Ouseburn

A lovely tune that Peter Tickell showed me, I really enjoy playing the B section where it goes into the relative minor and all that :-)

Have fun playing it!

D major transcription!

Here I am transposing the tune up a notch to the brighter key of D major!

I think it sounds nicer in this key but obviously your view may differ from mine!!

Nice! Is it a composition of his?

I don't think so, I'm pretty sure it's an old, old tune...I'll look into it an post any info on it when I can :-)

The Ouseburn is a fetid rivulet on which the sun never shines, gargling in the depths of a horripilant abyss somewhere to the east of Newcastle city centre, toying with whatever refuse the townsfolk have last chosen to feed it. It is girded with huge bridges and on a ledge crazily perched above it, or not far away anyway, is the Cumberland Arms, where the rising methane from the Ouseburn combined with the potions on sale encourage the Hogwarts folk degree people to play lots of curious music.

Mr. gloom and doom again I see... Cheer up lad, life isn't all dark and miserable... "Hogwarts folk degree people"?! So that's where the place is. I just knew it was up north here somewhere... :-/

Perhaps I should call them the "Hogwarts little people."

That's a slight on our Leprechaun brethren... First you say disparaging things about real folks, and now your moving into the fantasy realm... Don't come cryin' to me if you burst out in boils or you mysteriously blow a flat in your bellows... 8-)

It might be one of Matt Seattle's tunes.

Peter T played this at a party I was at a year or so ago. Nice tune, I thought, not recognising it, then he told me the title which I remembered as one of mine. Composed around 1985 when I used to go the the Cumberland Arms sessions.

Well you are a brilliant tune writer...though if I'd composed a tune this good I'd have remembered it....unlike you!! :-P

Alright Dan, it's time for your medication...
