Sportin' Belles
From James Byrne: The Road to Glenlough. Some suggested bowings included. The liner notes indicate it comes from the repertory of Francie Byrne. Basically, a version on Sporting Nell.

I think this is the untitled reel recorded between the Emyvale and the Merry Sisters on one of Altan's early recordngs, "Red Crow": http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/23

Yes, I hadn't noticed that. Not identical, but basically the same tune.

Was wondering if this is a Donegal version of Sporting Nell/The Long Strand http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/3169.

Sportin' Belles
I've just transposed this up a tone and it sits much better on the fingers, both on the flute and the fiddle. I would guess that was how it was written; but perhaps I presume too much.
