A Reel ?

A Tune i got from a session recording. Nameless until i heard Nomos entitling it as "The Saratoga". Both version are played as a fast reel, but the composition make me think of a hornpipe. two "Saratoga" are already present in the base, but this one is different. Anyone with an alternative title?

I recognise the second half, its played around cork with a different first part to thge one you have here, the first part is in D major I think, but I only ever got the 2nd half! ideas?

This tune is listed as the Saratoga Hornpipe in "The Portland Collection" tunebook. I also have recordings of this tune by Natalie MacMaster, Buddy MacMaster, Chris Duncan, Troy MacGillivray.

Yes! ~ BUT ~ AABB = 32 bars, and can and is played in other keys...

This is a classic contra dance tune in North America, played from the West to the East coasts, from Alaska to Newfoundland, and North to South, usually flat out, without swing, as for a reel. However, it is always listed as a 'hornpipe', and some folks do swing it...

Another davydd ~ but with a 'v' instead of an 'f', and also with some of your own tunes given in your details... Croeso! ;-)

It's already here, in a friendlier key and with a slightly less elegant title:

"The Saratoga HORNPIPE" ~ !!! ~ another take, this time in G

Nice connection Confusin', but ~ I think there are considerably enough differences for it to have it's own identity, mutant or otherwise. But here's a G transcription that can serve for a closer comparison ~ and an improvement on the sad and problematic transcription given here ~ first swung then flat for button's sake ~
