While older transcripts give this and other marches as M: 2/4, I personally feel that the time signature of 4/4 does better justice to them, and with less 'black'... If you prefer to have it the other way, well, just exchange the time M: & L: with this ~

Timing
Ceolachan, I would agree with you regarding time signature. While it is a GHB tune and the 'blackness' indicates what type of tune it is, like many other Highland players I would beat my foot four times to the bar - similar but slightly slower than a strathspey.
