Cois na hAbhna Slide
Well here goes again; as there were no cries of the dreaded "duplication" following my Christmas Day reel attempt, I thought I'd take another chance with this slide. I had originally set out to pen a jig but the notation forced it to become a slide. I did run it past the lads at tonight's session to make sure that they hadn't heard it before andf the consensus was we should christen it after the venue (not very Sliabh Luachraish, I'm afraid)

Lift / Translation?
Great lift and catchy melody. Not the one to catch duplication (Slainte, maybe?), but for those of us gaelic illiterates, is there a translation to the title? Kind of new to comment, but thanks for the contribution.

Cois na hAbhna
The title translates to "Close to the River" as "Cois" is near to in Irish and "Abhna" is river. There is in fact a small stream (which was probably once a river) at the back of the building. Thanks for the comments; as the tune seems to have passed the duplication test, I might try working on one to go with it!

Cois na hAbhna - B Part Correction
It was pointed out to me that while I play the first C as sharp in bars 1 and 3 of the Turn, they're shown as naturals on the music - it's funny how you play what you want to hear! I've made the amendment to the ABCs so it should show up in due course.

I like it. It's what I'd call a 'circus slide'. There are a few of these that have something Barnum and Bailey about them. Nice tune!

Accidental in Bar 1
Thanks for suggestion "c", I must admit it does sound better with the accidental but takes a bit of effort to execute it smoothly on the fiddle - practice I suppose! It's a bit like the C, B, B flat, sequence in Bar 1 of the "B" part of Paddy O' Brien's New House jig which I always have trouble with.
