In the sleeve notes of Teada's first recording, the tune is in the James Goodman manuscripts, which were compiled in the late 19th century.

It's called an "old jig" in "Tunes of the Munster Pipers: Irish Traditional Music from the James Goodman Manuscripts" - I learned it from Kevin Burke's Across the Black River CD and taught it to CF at our Sunday session...
