Are you a Molly Dancer?
.... or, more likely, a Molly Dance musician? Played slowly, this goes splendidly with the Cambridgeshire version of the College Hornpipe used by East Anglian Molly gangs when they're out creating havoc every January.

Re: Are you a Molly Dancer?
... an ex-pat East Anglian yes, but a Molly Dancer afraid not! Have lived up in Yorkshire for 35 years now - just another 35 to go and then I'll be allowed to apply for Tyke status!

This tune....
... is one of my own. It was originally put together when I was stuck in a static queue of traffic (not for the first time) on the way down to Cambridge. I often play it on a sopranino recorder, but using the same fingering as I would on a soprano instrument. Consequently, the key shifts up to Cmaj which, I think, adds a bit of extra variety.

"its this constant evolution and innovation which keeps "trad" music alive - "
Without going into great detail, both of your tunes were, as is often the case, obvious 'compositions'...
In keeping with your above "quotation", here is a bit of fun with this one, with the swing notated in as well ~

P.S. ~ There's nothing wrong with the 'obvious'...
