The Sister's

Not exactly sure about the mode here, someone might advise.
Quite a story to this one. I first heard it on a recording from Aberdeen City library played by a group from Cork called “Suifinn”. Liz Carroll recorded it early on in here career, too. I believe the source to have been Rose Murphy – see recent discussions, and also her recording “Milltown Lass” which I posted last week.
It has also made it into Scotland’s piping tradition, and I have a feeling the late Gordon Duncan may have been responsible for this. He recorded it with the “Scotrail Vale Of Atholl” Pipe Band, but it was changed slightly to go into the piping scale. I’ll post the “abcs” for that version here later. I used to teach the Highland pipe version in Aberdeen whistle classes. Makes a great whistle tune.

PS...

...and the "Battlefield Band" recorded it too. It may be "The Sisters" - plural, not sure about that.

The lining notes in "Leaving Friday Harbor" (Battlefield Band)say:

"'The Sisters Reel' comes to us from Liz Carroll via Dr Aonghas MacDonald, who has introduced it to the piping fraternity."
