The Blacksmith Schottische
I learned this from a friend who says he pulled it off the soundtrack to the old Robert Mitchum movie, Thunder Road (about Kentucky moonshiners).
A simple, inoffensive little melody that works well with a bit of hop to it. Goes well with barndances for a change of pace.

Aaaahh, it's so *cute* Will! It reminds me of playful little bunnies skipping around in a meadow.

Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop. Where's David when we need him?

Maybe they'd do well together?
[Hah, Mark, it's not like you've never posted a naff tune.... http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/3466]

Actually, you're not first CPT... I submitted this one sometime ago when the site was less tolerant? I also included links to the music and information about the film, as you might expect, and I did it with swing ~ >... I'm not sure why it is no longer here...
But hey, it has returned...

I also included the lyrics. Maybe there was a copyright problem?

Come to think of it, I wonder if someone didn't report me to the Whiz and complained heartily and got it axed?
I'll be back with at least a different take on it. I've heard it in other keys ~ C & D ~ and not exactly as the movie irons it out to fit the lyrics...
I also think I'd found an earlier source, possibly German.

LOL @ CPT. That's it, you're asking for it now. I'm gonna hunt out the worst piece of dag I can possibly find and post it just for you
And the Black Cock Of Whickham is not naff. I've submitted much naffer tunes than that in my time. Give me credit!

Your credit is overflowing...

LOL, "oh joy, I can hardly wait."
C, please do add your settings and info. I've had tunes disappear too, and given the current mish mash being allowed into the archives, I can't imagine a problem with this one.....

It was way back when, and certain 'foreign', European, tunes went la-la... There were mazurkas, sweifacher, schottisches, etc., and this was amongst them ~ but, in balance, most of what I've submitted and continue to submit are Irish, or close enough...

How could anyone delete a tune like this? It's far too kyoot! To delete it would be like wringing a poor little bunny's neck.
# Posted on November 9th 2007 by Dow
Wring little bunnies, wring, wring, wring....
[Sorry]
Note that it's been added to four tunebooks (and counting).

Alright Kurt, another challenge for you ~ a description for the dance?! My notes are not where I can easily get at them...
# Posted on November 10th 2007 by ceolachan
Hmm i remember not much but in some parts the couples imitate iceskating. Give me your mail-adress and i´ll send you a copy of the (german) Leineweber dance-description....
