Cédulie
A good example of a broken rhythm reel found in Quebec fiddle playing.
The composer was a French-Canadian fiddle-player Louis Boudreault (1905-1988) who had a great influence on the folk music of the region.
The tune is named after the composer's aunt, a step-dancer.
I think we can take it that this tune is intended for step-dancing and should be accompanied by the intricate foot-tapping found in Quebecois folk music.
Another broken rhythm reel to follow "Cédulie" is Boudreault's "Le Capitaine du 22è Régiment", which I shall post soon.
Both these tunes were originally notated in 2/4 with lots of 1/16 notes. It is more convenient to have them here in 4/4 and 1/8 notes.
