A lovely reel that is played a lot at German sessions.
At first, no one here had a name for it, but then someone told us that it's called Nollaig Casey's, and that's the name it's been known by ever since.
I believe it was brought to Germany by the well known flute player extraordinare, Klaus Steinort (who's got quite a reputation in Ireland as well), and first appeared in printed form in a tune collection called 'Castles In The Air', by piper Johannes Schiefner, flautist Regina Elling and banjo player Harald Birker.

Damn...not that it really matters, but he's called Claus Steinort, with a C, not a K...

Mario, the reel has gone its way since Claus brang it to Germany - do you know his flute version, too?

Why, of course I do! :D
Over the years, I had the chance to play with him a lot at the Hannover sessions, or in Proitze and at Hecki's place in Hamm and even when we where in Lorient at the Festival Interceltique. I really have to go to Hannover again!
And yes, the tune has become something of a standard here.

Could you post the flute version of this one? I like it really big time and simply transpose the low B into the octave (I have a C foot on my flute, so I play the low C's). Thanks!
