Father John's Jubilee (jig)
This jig is another fine composition of Offaly flute player John Brady. I first heard it on Mike Rafferty's latest recording "Speed 78," but the transcription here is based on the Brady family's playing: http://www.heartbeatcity.ie/product-detail/102969/BRADY+FAMILY+THE/THE+VIEW+ACROSS+THE+VALLEY
I actually haven't got their album yet, so I'd be grateful if someone could add the story behind this jig.

The Story
I've just come an interesting interview with John Brady on RTE: http://dynamic.rte.ie/quickaxs/209-rte-latesession-2007-07-22.smil (starts around 40:50)
From The Late Session Programme Listings 2007: http://www.rte.ie/radio1/thelatesession/1121129.html
From around 52:10 he talks about the origin of this jig: Fr. John Brady was the first cousin of John Brady the flautist and went to Nigeria as a young priest. The jig was composed to celebrate the father's golden jubilee. Don't miss the family's lovely playing of the jig set which follows.
