"The Prince of Orange" ~ after that last one I've decided why not? ;-)

I learned this from an old English manuscript, can you believe it? Well, here's the printed form:

"Lincolnshire Collections Volume 1: The Joshua Gibbons Manuscript"
Edited and transcribed by Peter D. Sumner
Breakfast Publications, Grimsby, 1997
ISBN: 0-9530117-0-4

Page 71, #123: Prince of Orange ~ original key - F
They give it in D Major as well, but with a significant difference from my transcription, they have it AABBCC, while I've given it AABC, for use with 32 bar dances... There is other evidence of my meddling, the accidentals toward the end in particular...

This is when I particularly value my witness protection status... 8-)

Maybe I should have changed the name to "The Price of Oranges"?

# Posted on June 6th 2007 by ceolachan

The price of Oranges is going up all the time, as for the prince, we know how it got up on its 'white' horse and went down in 'history'...
I'm afraid you can't squeeze m. out of this jiggetty tune...though it's middle section sounds interestingly like a tarantella, what d'you reckon?

Damn burblebirdie, you, it figures, there's just no getting away from you is there? You're like a whole flock of bloody Starlings...

I'm going to have to have a go at flooding TheSesh with your favourite tune form ~ hornpipes ~ all sorts, since you hate them so much. Maybe they'll work like that stuff folks put in their gardens to keep away dogs and keep cats from clawing spraying and pooing all over everything and burrying their horrid little surprise packages... But, will it work on the feral? 8-)
