First of several ...

There are a few comments I should probably post here. Firstly, I have tried my best to ensure this isn't already posted on the site. As I have done in the past, I've tried searching for the name, and also for the abcs, in two different keys (the only two I could imagine it being in).

I got this from Oisin McAuley's brilliant CD, Far From the Hills of Donegal. I learnt it by accident, and have also, by accident, learnt the other two tunes he plays with it, neither of which appear to be on this site, so I'll post them later.

The mode

I've posted it in 'Gmix', as, to me, that's the closest fit in terms of the feel of the tune. Clearly, the Bs are inflected, as are several other notes, which is unusual.

If anyone disagrees with the mode I've chosen, that's fine, and I would be very interested to hear why and what mode they think it should be in.

The last few notes ...

This is one of those tunes which doubles back on itself, so I've included the notes which lead back to the beginning. If you were to finish it at the end of the tune, I would think you'd end on a long G4.

It's not a barndance ...

It's a Highland. I'll post the other two tunes in the set if anyone's interested.

Yes!

Apologies, this is late as for some reason I wasn't able to access this site all night, not since dinner anyway. Here's a quick and rough transcript as I'm remembering this, though I need to spend more time with it as I'm sure I know this in a different key, but for now, until my brain starts functioning again, here it is following on from this submission ~

What a great post, benhall. Thank you! You've obviously taken great care with the transcription in getting the snaps and accidentals etc. You've restored my faith in the tunes section!

Something tells me this is already on site, but in a decidedly different flavour...so no real conflict if it is. I'll check later, as it would be good to have them linked up... This seems to be a 'modern' interpretation of a classic old highland...

It's a bit similar to the Queen of May in the B-part http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/2518.

Actually more similar to the B-part of Dermot McLaughlin's version of the Tap Room, which I posted in the comments here http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/711/comments.

I've got a slew of Johnny Doherty's music here abouts and am planning a search. If I find it and it isn't already here I'll either add the ABCs here, or if it is different enough, add it on its own. There are a slew of 'untitled' ones. If I do find it is already here I'll add more links, as Dow has done... But maybe someone will beat me to it?
