Felix Burns Week finishes with: "The Queen Mary's Waltz"
I have two transcriptions for this Felix Burns tune, to finish up the week with before preparing to honour another composer. The first given is transcribed from the melodeon playing of Jack Williams, who was recorded in 1914 and was described as the "North of England Champion". The following is from the notes for the recording "Melodeon Greats":
"John MacDonald knew of him, at least, and recalled that Williams used to repair melodeons and concertinas, so perhaps he was Scottish after all. His recorded repertory was firmly within the same Scottish tradition evidenced by the other players featured here. In many ways his style is, technically, one of the finest on record." ~ Keith Chandler
