About this tune...

Well, I'm sure this site is mostly for traditional tunes but I thought I may as well try my own so this is my own self-composed jig. Hopefully this time I got the ABC right! It was composed more for the fiddle although I've played it on my whistle. Feel free to use it and add some embellishment into it. As long as you don't claim it as your own ;) p.s. If anybody DOES happen to like it and play it, could you record it and send it to me? I would love to heard people playing my tune :) if you do, send it to willywonka120@hotmail.com

.....

Well...For the most part, this actually worked out. In the second phrase when in the sheet music and MIDI it jumps to B7, that should instead be B5, the B below middle c. I thought I had done the octaves right this time...

Ah

I put apostrophes instead of comas for the low B... Well dang it...So to anyone who plays it, remember to play it like this:
|: DED EGF | EF2 ED2 | DEE EGF | EA2 GF2 |
DED EGF | EF2 ED2 | DAG FGF | DEE EE2 |
DED EGF | EF2 ED2 | DEE EGF | EA2 GF2 |
DED EGF | EF2 EDD | DBA GAG | FEE EE2 |
EGE EAE | B,DD GDB, | GEE AEB | AGF EDB, |
GEE GEE | AGD DAD | BEE GEE | ABA FGF |
DGE EAE | B,DD GDB, | GEE AEB | AGF EDB, |
GEE GEE | AGD DAD | BAB GAF | EFD FE2 :|

Not the way the sheet music says (on the 2nd phrase)

A bit was cut-off, the B-part was meant to begin ~ |: EGE EAE | ~

I notice you call this a "jig", but this doesn't sound remotely like a traditional jig. Was it your intention to create some sort of new form of tune? I've never been to Texas and have no experience of the music there. Is this like the sort of music you hear there?

Look, I really had no idea what I was on when I tried to make this tune, if it could really be called that. I didn't do much of the whole timing or structure of a Jig right. Thank you everyone for telling me that I've done it completely wrong, and for telling me what I did wrong, so that I would not continue making those mistakes. Dow, no this is not like the music in Texas. In Texas, we have Rap, rock, and country. My "jig" is even worse than all of that.

Maybe like this?

This is kind of an interesting tune, but it lacks a lot, and you had the pick-up note in the first bar.

Maybe something like this would make it flow a little better?:

Yes!!! ~ well found Joseph. I kick myself, the EF2 ED2 should have told me so...but I was not wanting to change too much of how they'd given this pretty awful ABC transcription, and I have come across 'skip' in jigs before... It makes a little more sense as you've given it, and I've given it a few more tries but it doesn't really come alive for me... Here's where I left it ~ simplified on some counts ~
