Note: "Smoke in Your Eyes", you were gracious to give your source, but that source wouldn't be the first collection to base itself on what it took from the work of others... Sometimes folks, like you, are gracious enough to give credit, sometimes folks with less care, concern and consideration don't bother at all...

So, it wasn't aimed at you kard, but it does twist me to see such blatant extractions, as I highly suspect this one was... What else is in the collection you have, and what do they have to say for themselves and their sources? I think someone gave me a copy of this collection but I haven't it here where I can check...

Yes, this was, as I understand it, 'farmed' from various sources, so 'collected' is loosely used, 'purloined' from other sources would possibly be more appropriate? If not obvious, I have little respect for this type of collecting, seeing it as almost a form of parasitism, feeding off of and profiting from the hard work of others... Yes, it is 'traditional' music, but this type of copying, plagiarism to me represents a disrespect for others, and for the tradition... If you are going to offer the work of others, rather than allow yourself the credit, give credit where it has been earned...

I agree wholeheartedly, 'c'. Plagiarism is one of my pet peeves. In fact, I have little respect for this type of collecting, seeing it as almost a form of parasitism, feeding off of and profiting from the hard work of others... Yes, it is 'traditional' music, but this type of copying, plagiarism to me represents a disrespect for others, and for the tradition... If you are going to offer the work of others, rather than allow yourself the credit, give credit where it has been earned...
