Errr, might wanna check your ABCs there, the octaves are funky .. And also you forgot the b part! It's such a nice tune, can't just put the a parrt! =P

Speaking of sheet music...

How'd you get the current nine measures of sheet music from an ABC of two notes?

(Or is that a stupid question that makes my lack of sight-reading skills obvious?)

Perhaps the tune submitter changed the ABC (as he's entitled to) after the dots have been published.
I haven't seen the original ABC so I don't know whether this is actually the explanation.
