John Naughton's (reel)
This is a simple East Clare tune learned from the playing of Mary MacNamara on her 2nd album. It's recorded down a note as is often done in East Clare. It seems on her former musical partner Martin Hayes' first solo album too.

In JC's an Edor version of this tune is listed as "Eddie Moloney's." The trascription is done by Lesl Harker, so I believe it comes from the playing of Mike Rafferty.

Who is (or was) John Naughton?
Since there seems to be several tunes named after him, I'd like to know who John Naughton is (or was).

John Naughton
He was a concertina player from East Clare and had a great influence on Mary MacNamara and Martin Hayes. For more info, have a look at Bernard Parkin's "the East Clare Musicians Website": http://claremusic.tripod.com You can listen to a nice sound clip of Naugton himself.

Slainte's correct, my transcr. came from Mike Rafferty. I got the name of it as Eddie Moloney's from Mary. (Rafferty). That's how its known around here but also "Young" John Naughton's is used as a name for this reel. - Lesl
