Rondeau

This rondeau is a piece composed by the french composer Jean Philippe Rameau (1683–1764).

Rondeau

Actually, the piece is from the 'Suites de symphonies' (1729) by Jean-Joseph Mouret (1682-1738). Not exactly ITM, but I find it works well in a set sandwiched gently between the Uruguayan National Anthem and "Achy Breaky Heart".

Huh?

Uruguayan National Anthem? Huh... Have you got the sheet music for that piece?

Are you really sure about the part that this piece is not by Rameau? I´ve played it for 15 years or so, and seen it in many books and it´s always refered to as a piece by Rameau.

Positive

Yes, this tune is indeed by Mouret - I've got a facsimile of the original edition in front of me, and performing the entire suite this Easter Sunday at the close of services.

Sorry, I don't have the sheet music for that Uruguayan anthem. I usually play by ear when not at the organ or harpsichord.

Theme to Masterpiece Theatre

I recognize the tune as the theme to Masterpiece Theatre from the BBC as broadcast on PBS (Public Broadcasting System) in the U.S. I still can hear Alistar Cooke voice as he introduced the program.

Mouret

I second the thought that it's Mouret. Actually I once had it tossed up between himself and Handel (the Queen's Welcome). My transcription is in G.

Orange Flavoured

Keep thinking it's going to break into 'The Sash' at any moment towards the end. Now there's ITM! LOL

Reminds me of the old story that Beethoven was an Irishman because he introduced 'The Sash' and 'Slattery's Mounted Foot' into his Sixth.

Telemann

I'm told by a trumpet player that this is a Telemann Trumpet Concerto.
