Laura's Favourite
The first “Cherish The Ladies” recording on “Shanachie” featured female musicians playing Irish music in the USA. A 2nd “follow-up” album was recorded, but on this occasion, the female musicians, the “daughters”, were recorded playing duets with their musical fathers. Not surprisingly, it was called “Fathers & Daughters”. This reel is yet another fine composition by accordion player Martin Mulhaire, who plays it as a duet along with his daughter Laura, playing the melody on piano. I’ve always thought it a fine tune, but have never heard it played anywhere other than on that particular record. Hopefully, posting it here may increase its’ popularity.
