Flight Of Fancy - Jig by James Hill
An engaging jig I heard on the album "Fiddler's Fancy" by Tom McConville and others, which showcases the fiddle compositions of the c19 Tyneside-based musician James Hill. On the album the tune is played fairly leisurely, bringing out intriguing lop-sided rhythms occasioned by the placing of crotchets.
On the album, THIS TUNE IS PLAYED IN D. I assume Hill wrote it in D.
- But I submitted it in G for the sake of fluters / pipers / whistlers.

The tune is actually written by Chris Newman who backs Tom on that cd. It is really good fun to play and is cleverly in the North-Eastern style of Hill.

Well, I never knew that! I was given a download of the album and so could not see the credits for the tunes. Chris Newman's tune really does feel in place alongside Hill's compositions.
