Bellingham Boat
A really cute Northumbrian jig I learnt from my dad. The 1st line of each part I've left 'noted', and the 2nd line as roll variants.

Bellingham Boat
Great tune and one of the few genuine Northumbrian Jigs. Most others are two-steps. Listen to the High Level Ranters before you even attempt to play it as its not the same as any other version of 6.8 you have heard anywhere else.
The Angels play this as the bridge between the hornpipes and slipjigs in our set for Drops of Brandy / Strip the Willow.

In the liner notes for the recording "Northumberland Forever" by the High Level Ranters it says ~
"The pages of a music book are rather like a tomb and we like to think that we 'resurrected' this grand jig from the "Pipers' Society Tune Book". It's composition is attributed to a formerly well known local musician called Whinham whose name is also perpetuated by a reel elsewhere on this record. ("Whinham's Reel") ~ "
Graham Dixon's transcription is from a manuscript in the Beamish Museum dated 1883, of an L. Baty. While this tune isn't named as one of Whinham's, that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't, and the manuscript contains other tunes believed to be Robert Whinham compositions.
