Well, that's a start and a confession... What's the URL for this store of Morris tunes? Give the source credit, and I know others with an interest would appreciate the origins... :-)

What a crap tune. I might have more time for it if I believed the contributor actually played it, and could maybe tell us something about it, other than just "I lifted it off a website".

Stourton Wake

I've added this name to the alternatives.
Sorry Dow, I think it's quite a nice little tune (very english and Morris though so maybe not going to be popular here).
I've played it in a few english sessions (I'm trying to remember what it was paired with) and the midi sounds about right - though of course you have to imagine a bit more speed and a lot more bounce.

8-) Ah me hearties, the cutlass is bared and bloodied...

Give us a transcript Chris, your take on it, and if you remember the tune you mate it up with, don't forget to return and let us know... ;-)

# Posted on May 25th 2007 by ceolachan

I'm glad you remembered to add the alternate title...

That's even more irritating - that it takes someone to say "this tune's crap" before people start coming out of the woodwork saying they've actually had hands-on experience with the tune and that they play it and like it. Why couldn't you have said that before?

# Posted on May 25th 2007 by Dow

Then we would have missed your moment... ;-)

I had my first exposure to this tune last night at a morris practice and it was played first on pipe & tabor, which sounded great, and then on Anglo concertina, which was good, but seemed to be missing something that I can't quite put my finger on. I've not heard it at a session yet though.
