The Travellers Rest

This tune is named after a pub in Draycott, Derbyshire
And was found in a framed picture on the wall.
We are having a Sunday afternoon session in the pub 14th January 2007

http://www.thesession.org/sessions/display/1491

Sarah Mathews wrote it in honour of the Marriage to Phil and Carol. 3rd May 2003. I am assuming that they were previous owners of the pub. The new tenant knows nothing about it at the moment. I am hoping to find out more from the locals soon.

I am hoping we can get to play in on the 14th January

I think it’s a really good jig!!!

The Travellers Rest - Update

Thanks for your comment “saxwhistle”

I have found a little more information about this tune.

Sarah Matthews is a Derby based fiddle player. She used to be in “The Rattlers” a very successful local folk rock band in the mid/late nineties and she now plays with the equally successful “Cross o'th Hands" and also plays in a duo with Doug Eunson.

Sarah says she wrote this tune for her good friends Phil & Carol on the occasion of their marriage. They were/are regulars in the pub not owners as I previously thought.
Sarah gives permission for this tune to be freely distributed and will hopefully be joining us for our session on the 14th January.
