Some times you hear a tune ,and think "I've got to learn that". This was played on a Clare FM radio programme a week or so ago on whistle by a musician called Micky Dunne. Joe Cunneen I was lucky enough to hear once in Miltown in the early 1980s. He was a whistle-player who came from Quilty - a very fine player.

Good man, Kenny! Now there's a whistler I had forgotten about. At the 1989 Willie Week I went out with a friend who knew Joe to meet Joe at the Quilty Tavern. We stayed for a an or two hour talking and playing with Joe who belted out the tunes in great style on a wooden whistle, as far as I remember. I think I still have some photos -- somewhere.
