Light Foot

A Scots-inspired tune by Michael Albert of Portland, Maine, USA. The tune looks angular and fussy on the page, but when you hear it, its rock-inspired cross-rhythms really come out, especially with the right fiddle bowings. Another fine tune by this great fiddler and tunesmith.

I've heard it in a set between Ships are Sailing and the Humours of Loughrea. A rather effective and flashy (yet not pretentious) fiddle tune.

Foot of the Dance

According to Mr. Albert, who wrote the tune, both the tune and its name came into being while he was doing some Scottish Highland dancing... the rhythms of the dance created the tune, and the low 'E's throughout the tune coincide with specific footfalls. Does anyone else know any tunes written by dancers?
