McDonnell's Rant

I started a discussion about this cool tune and Noxious Blanket found its name and the ABC on this website:

http://www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers/Mc_MEN.htm#McDONNELL'S_(SLIP_JIG

It says it's Irish:
"McDonnell?s Rant.? Irish, Slip Jig. G Major. Standard. AABB?. The dates for the O?Farrell collection, printed by John Gow in London, England, vary: O?Neill gives 1797, while Pat Sky gives 1804, based on an entry in the Stationer?s Hall Registers. Source for notated version: copied from O?Farrell?s National Irish Music (1797)"
And old tune as you can see.

I knew it from some mp3 played by Northumbrian pipes (I think) so probably that's why I didn't know the second endings, because those pipes can't play those high notes.
I can't get used to the second endings and I think I like it better without them.
Here's my transcription of that mp3:

with some interesting comments about Northumbrian and border pipes etc.

Oh my bad... those pipes were Scottish smallpipes...
