My transcription of this reel from Wired by Michael McGoldrick. Although hey plays it in A minor I post it in B minor which is the fingering he uses, he must be playing it with a C flute.
To me it looks like a variation of a tune called Old Maids Of Galway, or The Hag's Reel, which has been around a long time. I would be surprised if these weren't in the Tunes list, if you wanted to look them up and compare.
This tune sounds very familiar to me too, esp. the A-part. On the CD "Notes from the Heart" by Mick, Louise and Michelle Mulcahy this tune is called 'Paddy's gone to France". The version in G is known as mentioned above as 'The Old Maids of Galway' or 'The Green meadow'. Funny enough: the Irish name of this tune, taken from Brendán Breathnach, would be translated into 'Young girls of Mayo'. Allright? It's really a strange Journey through all these names. To me it's more or less a typical MacGoldrick- version of the wellknown tune.

Yeah you're right, I've just compared them and yes they're pretty much the same. I had no idea.

Mmm... though... the track list of the album says:
"4. Strange Journey
(Shaw/McGoldrick)"
It doesn't say "trad arr." like other tracks...
