Johnny Henry's (jig)

This simple little jig appears on a couple of flute recordings: John Creaven "The Story So Far" and Marcas O'Murchu "O Bheal go Beal." They cite different sources but inform it's originally from the playing of the Mayo fiddler Johnny Henry. Not sure if it's his composition.

Lark in the Morning

Does anyone else see similarities here?

(Old) Lark In The Morning?

Yes, I think it's probably just another setting of the 2-part tune http://thesession.org/tunes/display/1578. I'm surprised slainte hasn't already pointed out the similarities between this and his posting in the comments of the other tune. He'd usually do so. Maybe he's been on the sake :-)

Having said that, I think it's different enough to deserve a posting of its own.

Hey slainte I just found your website! See you for tunes in Tokyo at the end of the month...

# Posted on December 15th 2006 by Dow

I didn't notice that simply because they aren't similar enough!

P.S. Please be patient, NB. I never forget you're coming here, but not sure yet exactly when the session happens. I'll let you know anyway.
